We are pleased to announce that the DLP Cinema Projector from NEC Viewtechnology (president: Ogawa Takashi; head office: Minato-Ku, Tokyo) will be installed in all the theaters (nine screens) in the Shinjuku Wald 9 cinema complex, which is jointly managed by T-Joy Co., Ltd., and Toho Cinemas Limited. The cinema complex will open on Friday, February 9, 2007, in Shinjuku, Tokyo, through Toshiba Denko Co., Ltd.

Shinjuku Wald 9 is a cinema complex located on the ninth to the fourteenth floors of the Complex Commercial facility building to be constructed on the former site of the Shinjuku Toei Kaikan building. Seven NC2500S DLP Cinema projectors and two NC800C projectors will be installed in all theaters (9 screens) of the new cinema complex. As the first cinema complex in Japan with digital cinema facilities in all theaters, Shinjuku Wald 9 has the possibility to show a variety of digital dramas, sports events, combat sports, and music concerts, as well as movies in all of the theaters, as mentioned in its catchphrase of an entertainment complex that surpasses the ordinary cinema complex.

In the process of developing and producing our DLP Cinema Projector, we emphasized four major features: (1) superior basic functions; (2) user-friendly functions; (3) reliability; and (4) easy maintenance. Our products have been well-received: for instance, the NC2500S is being used in the Cinema Beta Test (a digital cinema verification experiment) currently being conducted by Technicolor Digital Cinema Inc. (*) of the USA. The global market trend is for digital cinema, and construction of the first cinema complex with digital cinema facilities in all theaters will trigger an acceleration of the trend in Japan.

We aim to evolve the digital cinema business by actively promoting the development of digital cinema solutions and servers together with NEC.
